- Joint replacement
- Orthopedic trauma such as a fracture
- Arthritis
- Amputation

- Diseases that affect bones and muscles
We enable patients in our Orthopedic/Musculoskeletal Program to:

- Build awareness by providing education and resources
- Promote physical activity and improve body image
- Encourage long-term programs for active lifestyle goals
Our first steps are establishing appropriate, concrete goals and planning for a suitable date to return the patient to as normal a routine as possible.
Comprehensive services
We focus on those areas of the body where we can cultivate change through strengthening, stretching, reeducation of muscles and joints, and to improve coordination. For most patients, achieving reliable balance, range of motion and expanded strength, endurance and function are the objectives. This is accomplished through our comprehensive treatment program of occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, therapeutic recreation and psychological services.
In addition, we offer specialized programs not always provided by other rehabilitation programs including:
- Driver assessment and training
- Community-based therapy
- Biofeedback
- Balance and vestibular rehabilitation
- Pain program at Oakbrook Terrace
- Support groups
- Applied Rehabilitation Technology for seating and positioning needs
Levels of care
After an inpatient stay with us, you may progress to either our subacute program, or our outpatient rehabilitation program. Through these programs we help you adapt as much as possible to the future of an independent life.
Throughout all levels of care, we combine individual therapy with informative group sessions and peer mentoring that reinforce empowerment of individuals.

Education: key to fulfilling your future
Much of the program focuses on education and constant practice. We review routine physical activities, examining the most effective and comfortable ways to return patients to an active and productive lifestyle. We place a strong emphasis on educating our patient and their family. Our educational offerings include:
Equipment/orthotic or prosthetic review: Working and practicing with necessary equipment is crucial.
Family counseling/support: Family members and loved ones learning how to manipulate prosthetic devices and equipment.
Peer support: We encourage patients to attend peer meetings and support groups to discuss the challenges and emotions patients face and to learn more about how to manage their life at home.
Vocational services: We help high school and college students preparing to return to school and professionals yearning to get back to work as soon as possible.
Ultimately, our mission is to provide educational resources for physical, emotional and behavioral wellness, guiding and returning patients to home, work and community environments.
