A physician referral is required. For more information on ASTYM® therapy, please call 630-909-6500 or email KDow@Marianjoy.org.

Rehabilitative Ultrasound Imaging (RUSI)
for Low Back Pain

Treatment using Rehabilitative Ultrasound Imaging (RUSI) therapy can result in an improved recovery and improve the activity levels in patients experiencing lower back pain.

Research has shown that training with RUSI can decrease recurrence of back pain by 54% in the first year after injury and by 40% for the following 2-3 years.

Evidence supports that specific training of multifidus muscles (deep back muscles) utilizing Rehabilitative Ultrasound Imaging (RUSI) can decrease recurrence of back pain by 54% in the first year after injury and by 40% for the following 2-3 years (Hides et al, 2001). For patients with chronic low back pain, specific training improves the global impression of recovery and activity (Costa et al, 2009).

A physician referral is required. For more information, please call 630-909-6500 or email LSchwarz@Marianjoy.org.
