Marianjoy Physicians
The doctors at Marianjoy are all board-certified* physiatrists. A physiatrist (pronounced fizz ee at’ trist) is a physician specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation. As the population of America ages, as people survive conditions that once would have been fatal, and as quality of life is an increasing concern, the filed of physiatry is moving to the forefront of medicine. The specialty serves all age groups and treats problems that touch upon all the major systems of the body.
The Marianjoy Medical Group is a network of 21 physiatrists who manage 200 inpatient rehabilitation beds, 450 subacute skilled nursing facility beds, and eight outpatient clinics. The physicians specialize in treating spinal cord injuries, stroke, brain injuries, musculoskeletal conditions, neuromuscular disorders and pediatrics
* MMG physicians are certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. In addition, many MMG physicians have obtained specialty certification in pain management, spinal cord injury, pediatrics and EMG.
